Taylor Hastings

Coach Taylor Hastings

Coach Taylor was born and raised a Hoosier! He grew up playing team sports and filled his time in-between practices and games with water and snow sports. Taylor is an avid lover of the outdoors, a well-made cup of coffee, The Office, and of course fitness. After graduating from the University of Saint Francis he began his fitness journey and coaching career at Mad Apple. Taylor was amazed with the broad success of the CrossFit methodology, and instantly fell in love with the Mad Apple community. Over the years he has been mentored by a few of the experts in the fitness industry such as Jeff Edwards (Broad Ripple Fit Club), Nick Fowler (Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for Brute Strength), and Matt Bruce (20 years of Olympic weightlifting experience and owner of Brute Strength). Taylor’s passion combined with his knowledge and experience has allowed him to successfully coach thousands of athletes throughout his career.

Lesly Martin

Lesly has always been interested in physical fitness and a very active person since she was young; hiking, running, swimming, snowboarding, yoga and kayaking are a few of the activities that she has pursued over the years and still enjoys. She moved to Fort Wayne in 2010 to pursue a Bachelors in Exercise Science, and after running several half marathons and suffering from chronic runner’s knee she started looking into CrossFit. Her first class at Mad Apple in 2013 was amazing; she quit running after that and started solely doing CrossFit. Over the last 5 years she has been amazed at what our bodies can accomplish with good nutrition and functional movement training. As a coach it is her aim to help clients reach goals that they never thought possible; whether it is losing weight, getting their first pull-up or simply liking what they see in the mirror.

Maddie has become a competitive CrossFit athlete as well as a competitive Olympic Lifter over the course of her journey here at Mad Apple. She competed on the 2016 and 2017 Central Regional CrossFit Games team.

Maddie’s favorite thing about Mad Apple is the community and meeting, new members. She is the head coach of the On-Ramp program at both locations.

Vicki Toth

Bored of her running routine and occasional gym-going routine, Coach Vicki stumbled upon CrossFit after a few friends’ posts on Facebook and Twitter caught her eye.  She walked into her intro class intimidated and not knowing what to expect.  At that point, she never would have known how great an impact CrossFit would have on her life.  There is nothing else out there like CrossFit.  Not only are the workouts geared to bring your body to its peak in fitness, but the CrossFit community is what brought her back week after week.  Every time she came to the box, she was surrounded by like-minded people who love being there just as much as she did.  In no other gym has she felt the same type of camaraderie.  CrossFit is something that has become a major part of her life.

Emily Brown

Emily was never what you’d call an athletic kid. She always liked being active, but a connective tissue disorder slowed her down and had her in a wheelchair off and on through growth spurts in middle school. In 2015, after being mostly sedentary for several years, she was the heaviest she had ever been and miserable. Her best friend, an avid crossfitter, moved in with her for a couple months and Emily tagged along to Mad Apple with her. After dying during the intro class, she couldn’t wait to come back. The encouragement of the coaches and other members of the community made her feel a part of Mad Apple from day one; while the capacity to improve and grow in every aspect of fitness spoke to her on many levels. CrossFit has been the best physical therapy she has ever had. Emily has lost 50 pounds and capable of more than she ever imagined. When she is away from the box, she runs a custom leather working company, M Bar M Leather Design, and tries to keep up with her 30 nieces and nephews.

Blaine Burgess

Coach Blaine comes to us from central Ohio, where he was raised in one of the proudest football communities in the state. His parents put him into personal training at the age of 14, where he saw a vast improvement in performance and fell in love with strength and conditioning. At the end of his high school career, Blaine accepted a scholarship to study at Harvard University and play football. After graduating in 2014 with a degree in political science, he spent two years in Columbus, OH working at Rogue Fitness before starting his own online retail company and coaching CrossFit full-time. Kaleb grew up in Fort Wayne playing most sports but favoring baseball. He grew up in a family that always pushed him to do his best and encouraged him to be involved in several different sports and activities. Having an older brother who was also involved in sports, he always had a competitive drive. Although he enjoys competition, his passion and strength comes through him being a man of God. Nothing Kaleb has accomplished this far goes without giving the glory back to God. Kaleb has been a gym rat for years, but has recently had the joy of falling in love with CrossFit. He always asked himself what his purpose for training at the gym was and when he discovered CrossFit, he found the answer. Kurt Patterson

I found CrossFit in Oct 2010 while preparing for the Chicago Urbanathlon and was immediately addicted. I earned my CrossFit Level 1 Certificate in May 2011 and have been leading classes ever since. I am very goal driven and thrive on competition. I enjoy helping others succeed and have a passion for coaching. I retired from coaching basketball in 2015 after 24 years to spend more time with my family and focus on my fitness. My beautiful wife, is also member at Mad Apple. Austin Beer

Coach Austin first got into CrossFit while training with his brother in his garage. His first official CrossFit WOD at Mad Apple was composed of his least favorite movements; Thrusters, pistols and rope climbs. He quickly fell in love with CrossFit and knew he was interested in becoming a coach. Austin started at Mad Apple as an intern, then after passing his certification, he began to fill-in for classes and eventually was given classes of his own. He relishes in pushing members to do more than they previously believed they could. Being surrounded with like-minded individuals in the Mad Apple community is what Austin owes his passion for CrossFit too.

Adam Greene

I’ve been involved in competitive sports since I was a kid. I started lifting weights in my neighbor’s garage at age 13. In high school, I wrestled and played football. I continued playing football in college at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne. In 2010, one of my former college teammates told me about CrossFit. I was skeptical, but I tried it out in my college weight room. I was immediately hooked. I began following CrossFit.com workouts on my own, and in 2012, finally joined an affiliate. Around the time I began having an interest in coaching CrossFit, the opportunity arose to do so full time. I coached full time for 2 years, including a year at CrossFit Kansas City, one of the first 10 CrossFit affiliates. After moving back to Fort Wayne in the fall of 2015, I began coaching at Mad Apple, and I’ve called this place home ever since. When I’m not at the gym or work, I am riding my bicycle around town, umpiring little league baseball, or hanging out with my daughter, Camryn.
